Obvallaris is a cute little golden trumpet that blooms early and lasts a long time. It looks like a familiar yellow daffodil on a reduced scale, so it's great where space is tight. Grows well in the north and as far south as Tallahassee.
This species is known in Britain as the Tenby daffodil. Its exact origin is unknown, but it has grown wild on the coast of Wales for centuries. Over-collection in Victorian times and development since have greatly reduced its numbers; there are probably more bulbs in cultivation today than there are in Wales.
